Yesterday, Anne, our 6th grade teacher shared with us in devotions. She's the one who's my prayer hero. I love the way she prays out loud.
We heard 1 Thessalonians 5:11-22
She encouraged us to
encourage each other (v. 11)
warn those who are idle
encourage the timid
help the weak
be patient with everyone.
not to pay back wrong for wrong
but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

I'm reading Psalm 145 and praying back to God verses 13-21
Feeling like there was a psalm for me today, I just flipped open to Ps 145 (?) and it just came to me so naturally to pray the verses back to God like I had been shown about 5 years ago by a retreat speaker. I did this for a while then and have gone back to it from time to time. I hope I'll do this on a regular basis again.
VERSE 13b: Thank you Lord for being faithful to ALL Your promises
It's amazing to me to find this this morning since I'm studying Believing God and we're repeating the five statements, the first one being "God is who he says he is" the second "God can do what he says he can do." I need your HS to help me really believe and live as "if" I believe that You are faithful to ALL Your promises.
And thank you that I can count on the fact that you are loving toward all you have made....that includes me :) even when I feel inadequate.
VERSE 14 And You uphold those who fall. I'm counting on that Lord because I have fallen in a way. I'm not sure how to analyze it but I haven't always done all I could/should in my teaching job. I'm just not sure how to accurately evaluate my work. Please help me.
It says you lift up those who are bowed down. Wow. You sent me that message Friday too when Katie Broecker's Dad came and shared about how you have lifted him up from his sorrow over Katie dying. You are the one who can lift me up from being bowed down by this problem of being unsure about my ministry/ministries. Should I be a teacher, really? What kind? How can I best help people come to trust in You? as in, what role should I be playing in that?
VERSE 15 - how fitting, Lord, you're funny, as I'm focusing more than I have in a while on my eating you give me this verse about how You give us our food at THE PROPER TIME. hmmmm show me what you want me to take from that. From what you've showed me in the past I think it has to do with food not being bad but just enjoying it in the right timing (frequency, time of day, etc.)
VERSE 17 Thank you for being near to me. Help me to call on you in truth. Help me to be honest with myself as I evaluate how I have done and how you have blessed me and given me the education and experience that you wanted me to have. Did I mess this up? should I say, how much did I mess this up? I believe You are soverign over my mistakes, but I don't really understand how.
VERSE 20 Thank you for watching over me.
VERSE 21 Help me to, like David, speak in praise of You.
Amen
